This male cinnamon teal was spotted paddling around the restored wetlands of the Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge where thousands of waterfowl winter each year.

Bald Eagle Beauty

The handsome creature above was photographed at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Preserve, just a stone's throw away from Highway 99 W in Tualatin Oregon.

Don't live in an area where eagles roam? Then you might enjoy the "Eagle Cam", located on a Nature Conservancy-owned preserve on Santa Cruz Island. This past spring I enjoyed watching the incubation, birth, and flight training of Eaglets A-69 and A-68, all on a live feed from their nest. Most of the activity there is in springtime, but there are archives to enjoy:

Leave Only Footprints...

As the season draws to a close and we head into one of the last weekends of summer (a LONG weekend here in the USofA), here's hoping that you make some time to enjoy the beauty and wonder of Mother Earth.

There was a saying that was impressed upon me by a forest ranger in Yosemite when I was a youngster that I thought was oh-so-clever (and to this day think is oh-so-important!): Take only pictures and leave only footprints...

My latest Cafepress design features something new...photography! I snapped this photo of a bullfrog basking in a world of green at The Oregon Garden in Silverton.

Two great ideas for going green: Take a mug to work to use over and over again instead of using throw-away styrofoam cups. Use a re-usable tote bag for all of your shopping, not just at grocery stores, but any kind of shopping....
