Featured Print: "Such A Pretty Day"
Spring is just around the corner here in Oregon! The daffodils are starting to open in the valleys, so the tulips and the goldfinches can't be far behind.
I participated in the Great Backyard Bird Count two weekends ago and counted birds in the Coastal Hills north of Willamina-which is a beautiful mix of woodlands and conifer forest.
There were juncoes, robins, towhees, song sparrows, a varied thrush, chickadees, nuthatches, stellar jays, mourning doves, and best of all, a flock of 40 evening grosbeaks (watch for photos in a future post). To see the results of the Bird Count for your own neighborhood, visit this site:

This watercolor painting is called "Such a Pretty Day" and it is available as a limited edition print at my ebay auctions, (auction ends March 4) and also on t-shirts, note cards, and giftware at Susan Faye for Nature Lovers

Featured Painting: "COURTSHIP"
This original watercolor painting is called "Courtship". It was inspired several springs ago when unusually torrential rains brought a carpet of blooms to the Anza-Borrego Desert in Southern California. In the middle of what is mostly a barren desert, the air was abuzz with bees. The cactus were wooing their prospective pollen bearers with a glorious display of showy blossoms...
It is painted on Arches 140 lb. Cold Press Watercolor Paper with professional quality Grumbacher watercolor paints. The image is 14 x 20" and is matted in off-white in a standard 22" by 28" size, ready for framing.
For more information on the spring wildflowers at Anza Borrego (at their peak over the next several weeks) visit this link: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=638
This painting is up for auction on ebay this week; the auction ends March 1 at 10:46 am PST.

Featured Art : "Melissa and Me"
Welcome to my very first Weblog entry! This is a very special watercolor painting that I created several years ago called "Melissa and Me". Melissa is my beautiful and oh-so-feisty 12-year-old tuxedo cat who hasn't let her dainty size or advanced years slow her down a bit. She's a terror at the vet's office- it always takes at least two assistants to hold her down and she takes great pride in always drawing blood. But inside this tiny spitfire is a heart of gold, a faithful friend, and a wonderful playmate with a sly sense of humor.
This image is available as a limited edition print at my watercolor website, and also on t-shirts, note cards, and giftware at Susan Faye Originals.
Thanks for visiting, Susan Faye
